Day 2 of the Heartfulness Education program was on 11th October 2022. The teacher coordinator for the program was Ma'am Joan Lopes and Ma'am Reshma Rodrigues
The session began at 8:30 am. The first speaker was Kavita Shannoy. She is a commerce Graduate and for five years she is a full-time Heartful teacher. She took up a very important topic which is emotions. She spoke about the different emotions and how as a teacher as well as a human being it is very important to keep our emotions well balanced. She also spoke about how our imagination and thoughts affect our emotions. Then she explained about the Rejuvenation tool. A beautiful video was shown along with a very detailed explanation of it. Then she asked us to meditate and remove all the negativity from us just like it was explained in the rejuvenation tool. It was very soothing and refreshing. She explained the effects of cleaning. And when we should do it. She also spoke about spot cleaning which could be done any time of the day by just meditation for 5 minutes.
We had a 20 minutes break and then we had the second session. It was again a very beautiful one. It was by Ma'am Uma. She explained the topic very beautifully, that is perspective. She spoke about how every child is different and had different capabilities and as teachers, we should not judge all on the same criteria. It was a very important topic for us as we are going to be future teachers. She gave us a beautiful example of animals in a school and how the same criteria cannot be kept for their evaluation. She also spoke about positive words. She gave the example of Thomas Edison. How his mother's positive words made him what he is. How a small word of appreciation can have a grey impact on a child. She spoke about Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence. That every individual has different potential in different things. She even had an activity planned for us that is the Stroops test.
After a 20 minutes lunch break, we had the last speaker for the day. Sir Shashikant Nayak. He is a Heartfulness Practitioner Trainer. He took a session on effective communication. He asked a few students what communication means. People had different answers. Some said to share, the process of sharing, thoughts in words etc. He then showed a video of a baby blabbering. And asked if this was communication and then with that, he explained anything that is conveyed and understood by a person is called communication. Then he came to his next point of how as teachers we should let students talk in class only then they will be effective communicators. He then went further and spoke about different types of communication that are verbal and non-verbal. He spoke about how nonverbal communication that is body language tone has a greater impact on what the person is saying rather than the words themselves. So we as teachers should be careful about it. He ended his session by saying we should be careful about what we speak and how we speak.
A vote of thanks for the session was given by Harshita Sharma.
