St. Teresa’s Institute of Education, a Christian Minority Educational Institution, is one of the pioneering colleges of teacher-education in Mumbai. It was established by the sisters of the Congregation of Carmelite Religious in 1973. The college offers teacher education to women and is the first Women’s college of Education, to be affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It works towards the lofty ideals of creating teachers who are competent and compassionate. The focus is on conscientious sensitization of student teachers to their call to be artisans who will fashion the future of society. The Institution works steadily towards its motto of ‘Excellence in Education’. The philosophy of the college is guided by the sublime principles of St. Teresa of Avila -the patron saint of the Carmelites and Mother Veronica- the foundress of the CCR Congregation.

St. Teresa’s Institute of Education is situated at Santacruz (West), one of the popular suburbs of Mumbai. Being centrally and conveniently located on Swami Vivekanand Road, it is easily accessible to students by road as well as rail. There are also few hostels within its vicinity which provide accommodation for out-station students who may wish to avail of this facility.
