An online lecture on ‘Education: A Dynamic Process ' was organized by Dr. Cerena D'cunha on 9th May 2022. The resource person for this session was Dr. Megha D'Souza. The session began by introducing the resource person which was done by Ms. Melita D'Souza. The resource person started her lecture by putting forward a riddle for students, many students answered in the chat box. By means of a riddle the resource person introduced the topic 'Education' to the attendees.
She explained the etymological meaning of the term education like how it is derived from Latin words ‘educare’, ‘educo’, ‘educere’ and ‘educatum’. Dr. Megha elaborated the meaning of each of these words. Through this session she explained the narrow and broader meaning of education like how education goes beyond four walls of the classroom.
She threw light on places we learn, time in which we learn and people from whom we learn. How different philosophers and educators like Mahatma Gandhi, Aristotle, Swami Vivekananda, etc. had defined education was discussed in this session. Before discussing the characteristics of Education, the attendees were given a task to write any 3 characteristics of education. The attendees had posted very impressive characteristics in the chat box like how education brings all-round development of an individual, it goes beyond the classroom education, it's the tripolar aspect, etc. Most of the characteristics were covered by the attendees in the chat box, the remaining characteristics were discussed by the resource person. It was truly a very interactive and informative session where most of the concepts related to education were made crystal clear to the attendees. The session ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Sanida Nunes.
