St. Teresa Institute of Education completed 50 years of selfless service this year, on this joyous occasion our college took an initiative to reach out to the poor and unprivileged children at Sarva Seva Sangh. The First year students of B.Ed Batch 2021-23 were designated Sarva Sava Sangh Ashram in Andheri East. The outreach program was from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm From Monday to Tuesday, excluding Saturday. On Day 1, we were greeted by the coordinator of Sarva Sava Sangh who gave us an overview of the Ashram. We had a meditation and acupressure session .The Children arrived at 10:30 am and we were assigned our children. We were assigned tasks were teaching letter ‘V’ and ‘W’, and coloring masks. The teacher trainees were taught a bit about ‘Good touch and Bad touch’ and were told to prepare skits for the children. The children had to colour their Ravan mask and later on play a Garba with their children, and lastly we had a session by a guest speaker Ishita Maam.
On Day 2, we had meditation and exercise by one of the teachers of the institution. We colored the mask of Ravan with child appointed to us. We had a session another guest speaker Dr. Paval who enlightened us the benefits of yoga and wellness, importance of treating one’s body well, and have good breakfast. On Day 3, the day began with meditation session as usual. One of our peers, conducted a revision session on what was taught to us by yesterday’s guest speaker. The session was concluded by taking feedback of the session and then walking on the grass to feel the connect to our nature. The teachers then taught their respective child the letter ‘V’ with the use of different teaching materials. The day couldn’t end without a Garba dance session. On day 4, ‘Never give up’ was the theme for the fourth day’s assembly. It was a perfect blend of hymns, motivational audios and feedback. We were given time to prepare for the skit on ' Good Touch Bad Touch ' which we were going to perform in front of the parents of the children to create awareness.
On day 5, we had a workshop on 'Good touch and bad touch' for the children and their parents. There were three batches allotted and 3 Groups presented their skit respectively. The main aim of the skit to educate the children and parents of good touch and bad touch' and have good communication with their children. This awareness was created in this workshop. Hence it was a grand success. On Day 6, we had a short assembly thanking God for the beautiful day and his blessings. We had the revision of good touch and bad touch' with the children and taught the letter 'W' to the children. We had an orientation for Dusshera celebration. On Day 7, the last day for us at Sarva Seva Sangh as we celebrated Dusshera on this day. Parents along with children were invited for the celebration which fashion show, singing, dancing and killing the Raavan. Children and teachers were provided with refreshments and snacks.
At the end of this fun-filled week, we thanked the coordinator, Shobha ma’am alongside the entire group of Sarva Seva Sangh to always welcome us with open arms. We presented them a small token of love on behalf of the STIE family. We would also like to thank our respected Sr. Dr. Tanuja Waghmare for always providing us with opportunities to learn and grow.
