A guest lecture by Dr. Anju Chaplot, a faculty of Thakur B.Ed College, Kandivali, was held at St. Teresa’s Institute of Education on 03rd August, 2021. The lecture began at 12.20pm and ended at 1.30pm. A total of 50 students from F.Y.B.Ed attended the lecture. It was organized by Dr. Joan Lopes, assistant professor at St. Teresa’s Institute of Education.
The topic for the lecture was Absenteeism, which is a part of the curriculum of Educational Management. Dr. Joan began the session by introducing Dr. Anju. Then Dr. Anju began by asking the students present in the meet about what reasons they thought are the causes of absenteeism. She then went on to explain the reasons behind the absenteeism of students. She also explained the various factors leading to absenteeism such as factors related to the home and family background, factors concerning students, factors concerned with school and several other factors. She also asked the students present in the meet about how absenteeism can be minimized. Furthermore, she spoke about the causes of absenteeism among teachers and what measures can be taken to avoid it. Lastly, Dr. Joan and a student, Riya Coutinho gave the vote of thanks and ended the session.
The lecture was very engaging and interactive. Dr. Anju asked questions in between which made the class interesting and various points of views were shared. She also made use of online apps to get inputs from the students. The topic was explained in-depth and the points were made very clear. It was an enriching and informative lecture.
