Dr. Nighot is an extremely resourceful, committed and creative professional. She holds 18 years of professional experience comprising of initial six years in corporate and special libraries of Ernst and Young, EPW Research Foundation, Mumbai Maritime Training Institute and Sophia Women Study Centre. Since January 2011 she is perusing academic librarianship at St. Teresa’s Institute of Education.

She has been a Visiting Faculty, Paper Setter and Examiner at SNDT Women’s University. Dr. Nighot has served as Library Supervisor for MLISc. Trainees from University of Mumbai and SNDT women’s University. She has conceptualized, designed and developed a certificate course in Electronic Information Literacy for teacher trainees of STIE. Under her presidency STIE-NDLI club has been recognized as best performing NDLI club across country.

Dr. Nighot has been a convenor for National Webinar, Education GenNext: Perspectives, Opportunities and Challenges (19th & 20th May 2020) organised by St. Teresa’s Institute of Education and co-editor of proceedings of the same. She has been resource person for various workshops, training programs and lectures conducted at various educational institutions on NLIST Awareness, NDLI Orientations, Databases Search, Internet Search Techniques, Reference Sources, Citation Management, Technology tools in Education etc. She has also judged various competitions and co-curricular activities for various colleges.

Dr. Nighot has been awarded a doctoral degree in Library & Information Science for her research study: Citation Analysis of PhD Theses in Education in State Universities of Maharashtra. Apart from editing two books she has authored a number of research papers on areas such as citation studies, information need and literacy, electronic information resources and services etc. in national and international journals and conference proceedings.

Dr. Nighot is recipient of Smt. Malati Dalal Prize, Prof. Vidyut Khandwala Prize, M.A. Master Memorial Prize for Securing 1st rank in the University in her post-graduation.

Library Management, Internet Search Strategies, E-Information Literacy are some of her areas of interest and expertise.
